About the Grant

The Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board is inviting applications for its Quick Response Grant Program to support small-scale community initiatives.

Funding Information

• Grant Value: NZD $500 – $2,000

• Match Funding: Eligible – grants may be matched by community contributions (volunteer labour, donated goods, services, or cash) up to 40%.

The program supports the Local Board Plan under these themes:

• People – inclusive projects that support underrepresented groups.

• Environment – resilience to climate change, sustainability, waste reduction.

• Community – connected, resilient, and empowered local communities.

• Places – local activities and services that enhance belonging.

• Economy – events/projects that showcase cultures and stimulate local economy.

Higher Priority Projects

• Inclusive projects that support underrepresented communities.

• Initiatives enhancing community resilience to emergencies & climate change.

• Events that build cultural connections and stimulate economic activity.

• Projects promoting healthy environments, e.g.:

  • Water as first choice.

  • Healthy food access (good kai for all).

  • Smoke-free, alcohol-free, drug-free activities.

  • Sustainable, low-carbon lifestyle promotion.

  • Waste reduction initiatives.

Lower Priority Projects

• Catering.

• Purchase of electronic equipment.

• Ongoing admin costs (except professional/specialized services).

• Fundraising activities.

• Projects outside the Local Board area.

• Initiatives eligible for central government funding.

• Projects that do not benefit the wider community.

Eligibility

• Open to community groups, organisations, and individuals delivering activities within the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board area.

• Preference given to inclusive, sustainable, and community-benefit projects.
